My J-Bear is the funniest person I know. But, you know, he’s a teenager now, and sometimes we have a day when he’s all teen attitude and there’s nothing to laugh at. On days like that, I really need to step away for a few minutes and lighten things up at NickMom’s Kids Say of the Day on NickMom.com. It gives me a break from the back-talk and reminds me of all the silly funny reasons that I love my boy!
Most days my boy is a laugh a minute. When he was a toddler and we were sitting together in church, he’d pick up my long hair and drape it over his little head and say “Look Mommy! I’m a GIRL!” It was so funny that I couldn’t help but laugh every time. Earlier this week I texted his sister, J-Ella, and asked if she had any funny pictures to share and these are the ones she sent…
(I wonder if she’s trying to tell me something – LOL)
Pretty dresses aside, my boy really is a cool kid. He has a love of all things classic: classic cars, classic rock, and classic video games. One of his favorite games is Space Invaders.
But there is one thing that my J-Bear does almost every day to make me smile. I’ll be sitting on the couch and he walks up and, with a totally straight face, says “I’m going to sit on you now.” And he does! My 5’8″, 140 pound, 13 year old child plops himself down on my lap and snuggles in to stay a while.
One day, not too long ago, he sat down on my lap, and the conversation went something like this:
I secretly hope that he does want to sit on my lap when he’s 30. I love my boy more than I even know how to say. And every time he sits on me now, I think of that conversation – and the book Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. (If you haven’t read that book, you need to! You will laugh and cry and laugh again.)
I hope you have a funny kid at your house to keep you laughing, too. But if it’s one of those days when the kids are just giving you nothing to smile about, tune in to NickJr for NickMom at 10pm eastern, or check out NickMom.com anytime. It’ll bring your smile back and remind you of everything you love about being the mom!
