PLNOO2014-Disclosure

I was excited when I learned that Newman’s Own Organics would be sending me an assortment of their products to review for you.  But I was absolutely amazed when I picked up my package and found that I’d received a heavy (12 pounds per the shipping label) box filled with 37 full sized products!  I’d planned to write my review the next day, but it took my family almost a week to work our way through all these amazing treats!  And we weren’t piddling (as Nanny would say).  I couldn’t get pictures of one thing before several more had been opened and sampled.

My guys loved the candy cups.  Mr. Fix It said that the fillings in the Peaunt Butter Cups and Peppermint Cups were creamier than “popular brands” and also that there was more chocolate and less filling, which he liked. J-Bear said of the Caramel Cups “Ooh – it’s the liquidy caramel!  I could eat those all day!”

I’ve been trying to eat healthier this year, and in particular to eat more protein to help keep me satisfied longer, so I opened the High Protein Pretzels first.  I expected them to taste different, but they were almost identical to my regular brand, with twice the protein (5g per serving) and over four times the dietary fiber (4g per serving).  They tamed my snack cravings fast!  All the pretzels were great, but these were the ones I prefered because they helped me stay on track.

I loved the dried Cranberries sprinkled on my normal breakfast of plain greek yogurt drizzled with honey.  The protein in the greek yogurt keeps me full, and the sweet tart pop of the cranberries were a perfect complement.

I have always loved ginger.  And Newman’s Own Organics Ginger Mints were incredible.  I could quench my cravings for sweets with a tiny little mint.  Just one mint gave me several minutes of amazing flavor.  My sweet tooth was as satisfied as if I’d just had a handful of ginger snaps for less than 4 calories per mint.  That’s a treat my diet was craving!

But my very favorite (pay attention giveaway entrants) was the Super Dark Chocolate.  When I was craving chocolate and nothing else would do, I could nibble at a square of Super Dark Chocolate for just 55 calories.  The flavors were so intense (and delicious) that it really satisfied my cravings, and with 70% cocoa, most doctors agree that this chocolate is actually great for your health.
